RAY Coleman travelled the world with The Beatles and interviewed them extensively as a writer with Melody Maker.
The late Ray wrote many rock biographies including Lennon: The Definitive Biography; Brian Epstein (The Man Who Made the Beatles), and Gerry Marsden (I'll Never Walk Alone).
Ray was well-respected as a serious rock documentarian right up until his death.
He called Liverpool his 'second home' and when he launched his biography of Brian Epstein in Liverpool it was attended by many close friends from the Sixties, including actress Sue Johnston and famous Liverpool lawyer Rex Makin.
Lennon is regarded as one of the best Lennon biographies while McCartney: Yesterday and Today, written with the co-operation of Paul McCartney, is an accomplished work using Yesterday - the song - as its focus but with revealing contributions from George Martin and of course, Paul.
