Let It Be

by Peter Grant, icLiverpool

THE film was originally planned as Get Back and gave The Beatles their one and only Oscar for 'best' soundtrack.

It is a memorable documentary of days in the life of the band for many different reasons.

Sadly, cinema-goers could see the band disintegrate before their eyes.

But they could also see and hear just what a supernatural group they really were when playing together as one unit.

The rooftop concert at Apple HQ remains one of the classic musical clips of all time.

Filmed in the studio, The Beatles were, at times, seen laughing and joking.

However, these scenes were just all too few poignant flashes of what it must have been like when they first entered a recording studio in the early '60s.

One argument between Paul and George is still - 30 years on - painful to watch. George simply stating that he would play whatever Paul wanted him to play as long as it made Paul happy.

The long and winding road had finally come to an end and the dream was over.

The audience looked on as the band we'd known for all these years fell apart.

None of The Beatles attended the film's premiere.

Songs included the title track: Two of Us, One After 909, For You Blue, I Me Mine, Dig It!, Across The Universe Get Back, Maggie Mae and The Long and Winding Road.
