With some changes to the menu, we chose salmon with lemon sauce as well as pork fillet for main courses, both served with a very generous bowl of mixed vegetables. In this day and age, when the health conscious often fear to eat out because of the high fat, sugar and salt content of so many meals, this was a very welcome change to be presented with vegetables unbidden. A mixture of broccoli, cauliflower, onions, carrots and potatoes, there was something to tempt even the most reserved vegetable eater and the two of us could not manage to finish the serving. My salmon was tasty, although not spectacular, and the lemon sauce was a little too tangy and cloying for my pallet, but perfectly edible. The pork fillet had a warm peppery sauce and seemed to meet with approval. A brief pause was had between courses while we sat in the bar area to allow my companion to smoke a cigarette. In case it was thought we were trying to abscond without paying the bill, we hastily returned to our table in time for our desserts to be ordered. The quality of a restaurant's chocolate dessert is a good yard-stick by which to compare establishments so I chose the chocolate and amaretto mousse. My partner plumped for a banana and butterscotch tart. When my dessert arrived I was pleased with the chocolatey taste but the amaretto was noticeably absent from the dense and more-ish slice. I was informed that the banana tart was pleasant enough and all was consumed. Overall, extremely pleasant surroundings with entertainment that gave an unusual twist to a Tuesday night. The food was tasty enough and very good value. Well worth a visit. Entertainment highlights coming up include Nat King Cole tributes on May 27, plus Dean Martin specials on May 20.
