The Italian Kitchen, Formby
| |
I had chosen fusili pesto con pollo - spiral pesto tossed with char-grilled chicken, pesto, pinenuts and sun blushed tomatoes. And what a good choice. The chicken was cooked to perfection and there was just enough pesto to flavour the pasta without overpowering. Jane was equally impressed with her fettuccine pesto e pomodoro - sunblushed tomatoes, pesto rocket leaves and parmesan shavings. "The pasta was cooked just right, the tomatoes were very tomatoey and there was lots of parmesan" was her informed verdict. The service was superb - prompt and helpful without being intrusive, and we were most impressed with our friendly waiter. We were both far too full to enjoy dessert - although they did look fantastic - but we managed coffees before we went on our merry way. By the time I dropped her off, our bellies were full and our tongues were tired. But we still managed a final word before we left each other. "We'll have to do it again soon," said Jane. "There's plenty more I've still to tell you." Heaven help our next dining neighbours.
