FORMER TV journalist John Sergeant launched the Liverpool Daily Post and ECHO Business Expo programme last night.
The veteran BBC and ITV political correspondent was guest speaker at the Carriage Works in Hope Street, where more than 250 business figures celebrated the third annual BusinessLIVE event.
He reminisced about his time as a Post and ECHO reporter.
"It is great for me to come back with my wife after we left 35 years ago. The Daily Post and ECHO taught me an awful lot."
The evening was sponsored by Liverpool John Moores University and its head of business development, Jon Barrett, praised the full programme of business events planned over the next three days.
"There's a hugely impressive range of seminars. Success of business in the north west is well worth us celebrating," he told guests.
Apart from a free twoday business-to-business Expo in the ECHO's City Exchange today and tomorrow, there is also a range of workshops, talks and coaching sessions.
The programme's climax is the ECHO's Enterprise Champions Awards tomorrow night at The Supper Club in Blundell Street and the Regional Business Awards on Thursday of sister paper the Daily Post, which marked its 150th anniversary last night.
