SPEKE'S Partnership for Learning was the first winner last year of the ECHO Enterprise Champions Social Enterprise of the Year award.
The category was refined from the best contribution to the community to highlight the efforts of not-for-profit organisations whose primary role is to improve their communities.
Partnership for Learning was founded by local companies and the North West Development Agency to deliver training for the local community which will improve skills and employment prospects.
Chief executive Ed O'Brien said their success in the Enterprise Champions awards helped boost their efforts among the community and he is already looking at entering this year's competition which launched in last week's ECHO.
Mr O'Brien said: "We are a charity and any surplus we make is ploughed back into the community, so to win the award last year was really pleasing for us.
"It did a lot to raise our profile and we are definitely interested in the award again this year."
The Social Enterprise of the Year, once again sponsored by 2020 Liverpool, is available to any concern operating in the region on a not-for-profit basis.
