THE Liverpool ECHO Enterprise Champions Awards are now in their sixth year and one of our biggest supporters has been 2020 Liverpool. 2020, a joint venture owned by Liverpool City Council and Mouchel Parkman, was established in October 2003 to deliver property and professional services to Liverpool council and other clients. The name 2020 Liverpool refers to its vision for the partnership and its long-term commitment to delivering quality services in Liverpool. A spokesman said: “Our aim is to make 2020 Liverpool an example of public-private sector partnership which others will want to copy.” The services included in the property and professional services contract include: Estates – valuations, disposals and property management; Building – architecture, structural engineering, building services engineering, quantity surveying, and building surveying; and Transport & Public Realm – projects, technical services, traffic systems, and strategic projects. 2020 is now in its fourth year of supporting our Social Enterprise category and the organisation said: “We’re proud to sponsor the Social Enterprise category as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the community.” The category is always one of the most hotly-contested of all our awards, particularly with the continuing growth of social enterprises. Last year’s award went to Alternatives, which gives former drug and alcohol misusers a way back into work. Project manager Malcolm Sutton said: "This is reward for the vision and faith of our trustees who have taken a lot of risks to let us be where we are." neilhodgson@liverpoolecho.co.uk The award categories Best social enterprise, sponsored by 2020 Liverpool If your not-for-profit organisation is making an impact on your community or environment make sure you enter this award.
