GLOBAL success in balmy Barcelona is nothing compared with picking up an accolade at the Albert Dock, said our new Enterprise Champion.
Voodou Hair Salons boss Robbie Webb was among the cream of Merseyside's small businesses honoured at the fifth ECHO Enterprise Champions Awards in the dock's PanAm bar and restaurant.
Earlier this month he was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the Global Salon Awards in Barcelona, but after picking up our top prize Robbie said: "We have just won a global award in Barcelona which involved 22 countries, but it means so much more to win this here in Liverpool."
ECHO editor Alastair Machray hailed all our finalists, saying: "A new and exciting city needs new and exciting businesses.
"If our economy is to ride the crest of the wave that is Capital of Culture we need people to be bold, ambitious and creative.
"The ECHO loves Liverpool, it is everything to us. So, a big thank you to Liverpool and to our partners tonight," he said.
Guest speaker Ruth Badger, star of BBC2's hit TV series The Apprentice, added: "I take my hat off to everyone in this room who has started their business because it is ahuge risk. If you know what you are aiming for and you are determined and work hard you will achieve your goal."
Robbie won Enterprise Champion of the Year award, sponsored by Land Rover.
