The awards are targeted at businesses with 100 employees or less trading in the Merseyside area (NB: They must have a principal business address in the areas of Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens, Wirral, Halton or Warrington).
The Liverpool ECHO Enterprise Champions Awards are organised in association with Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank and supported by Business Link for Greater Merseyside.
The awards will highlight the achievements of our most successful smaller businesses and business people and are intended to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit in the region.
COMPETITION CATEGORIES:
Micro Business of the Year sponsored by the Liverpool ECHO (available to businesses with 1-5 employees). It will be judged on the achievements of the business to date, both financial and non-financial. Judges will be seeking a business which has made a successful start and which is considered to have the best chance of future growth. NB: This category is not available to social enterprise/charitable/not for profit businesses.
Best Small Business sponsored by Business Liverpool (available to businesses with six-100 employees.) It will be judged on the achievements of the business to date, both financial and non-financial.
Judges will be seeking the small business considered the most successful in the region. Factors considered will be its trading and growth to date and potential for the future, as well as any specific reasons behind the nomination. NB: This category is not available to social enterprise/charitable/not for profit businesses.
Best New Business sponsored by Business Link for Greater Merseyside (available to any business which commenced trading on or after January 1, 2003). The business will be able to demonstrate its success to date based on entrepreneurial activity and its potential for future growth. NB: This category is not available to social enterprise/charitable/not for profit businesses.
Social Enterprise of the Year sponsored by 2020 Liverpool (available to any concern operating in the region on a 'not for profit' basis). Judges will be seeking the concern that has made the most notable impact on its community or on the environment, the success in achieving its objectives and which has made the best use of the resources available to it.
Young Business Person of the Year sponsored by Liverpool Chamber of Commerce (available to any individual aged below 35 employed by, or running a business in the region). Judges will be seeking the person who has done the most to enhance the reputation of their company or who has shown outstanding individual achievement.
Enterprise Champion 2005 sponsored by Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank (available to any business or individual in the area). Applicants may have applied for any other award category or may be a stand-alone application.
The judges will be seeking the business or individual that has demonstrated the most outstanding business achievement.
