AN ONLINE business started in the spare bedroom of a house with a single box of products has taken off - with the opening of a new distribution centre near Chester.
Memory Card Zoo was launched by directors Peter Derbyshire and Michael Sowa, from the company's registered office in Garden City, Deeside, in November, 2005.
The business is an online retailer of memory cards for mobile phones and digital cameras, and also sells associated items such as batteries. "I think the market itself is quite competitive, but we wanted to come at it from aslightly different direction by making our website fun and easy to use," said Mr Derbyshire.
"A lot of rival websites are purely e-commerce website and we were keen to inject abit of humour into our use of e-commerce.
"So our website is a little bit wacky but simple to use. We thought the name Memory Card Zoo seemed to fit. It stands out amongst the competition and it's always abit of azoo around here."
He added: "Our target audience is primarily individual consumers, although we are trying to expand our product lines and would like to do more B2B sales."
The business has opened adistribution centre in aformer printing plant in Sealand Road, Chester.
