LIVERPOOL-BASED functional foods company Provexis yesterday said the next 12 months will be a "defining period," for the business as it gears up to release its first product on to the market.
The company has developed a drink that reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke, which will be launched in January.
The product, to be known as Sirco, uses Provexis's patented Fruitflow technology.
Provexis wants to license the Fruitflow technology to a large corporate that has the "financial muscle," to market the product globally, said Professor Stephen Franklin, chief executive of Provexis.
"Existing heart-health products focus on cholesterol management with benefits only derived after a long-term consumption," he said.
