GLASSMAKER Pilkington said yesterday that trading was in line with expectations.
The company said that its performance was benefitting from a strong performance from its automotive glass division, which is one of the world's biggest makers of car windscreens. It attributed its success in this sector to the successful launch of several new car models that it supplies the glass for.
However the firm said it had experienced more mixed conditions affecting its building products division, which makes glass used in office windows. It particularly blamed conditions in the UK market.
Last month, the St Helens based group agreed to sell itself to Japan's Nippon Sheet Glass in a deal worth around $5bn.
