FACE masks to help stop the spread of bird flu among humans are being imported by Southport businesswoman Gail Rickett.
Nanomasks use next generation nanotechnology in replaceable filters, which are said to block the smallest viruses.
UK Business Woman Achievements winner Gail expects her import company to be inundated after the French government ordered millions of masks when bird flu was confirmed in France.
The former athlete, who nearly died of pneumonia in 1994, said: "Most people become ill from a virus through touching a contaminated surface and then touching their mouth or nose.
"By wearing a Nanomask, a person would greatly improve their chances of preventing the virus from entering their body."
