Television broadcaster Peter Sissons at the 2005 Regional Business Awards

THE black-tie awards dinner takes place in the magnificent setting of St George's Hall in Liverpool city centre on June 29.

The evening promises to be a fascinating combination of prize-giving and entertainment.

As well as handing out the awards, the event will feature an after dinner speech by Dragon's Den star Doug Richard, himself a successful entrepreneur.

Mr Richard is the founder and chairman of Library House, and founder and vice-chairman of the Cambridge Angels. He is a leading businessman with 20 years experience in the development and leadership of technology and software ventures, both in the US and in the UK. Between 1996 and 2000 he was president and CEO of Micrografx, a US publicly quoted software company which he sold to Corel Corp in 2000.

Prior to that he also founded and subsequently sold two other companies: Visual Software and ITAL Computers.

Mr Richard holds a BA in Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley and Juris Doctor at the school of Law, University of California at Los Angeles.

The evening's keynote speaker will be Trinity Mirror chief executive Sly Bailey.

As well as the two speakers, the evening will be overseen by the master of ceremonies, BBC broadcaster Peter Sissons.

Other features include a trapeze artist and band Plan B, who will provide the jazz late into the night.

Many tickets for the big night have already been sold, so those wanting to attend should contact the Daily Post's events team early to secure entry.

The events team can be contacted on 0151-472 2805.
