THE Liverpool ECHO arena celebrates its first birthday today.
More than 700,000 people have stepped through the doors since the arena and its neighbouring BT Convention Centre opened for business, bringing an estimated £200m into the city.
Officials today said they were looking at how to continue the success over the next 12 months.
Chief executive Bob Prattey said: “2008 was an incredible opening year and the challenge now is to ensure 2009 follows suit.”
Big names already lined up for 2009 include Bob Dylan, Cliff Richard, Pink, the Kaiser Chiefs and Eric Clapton, as well as the Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor tours and big darts and boxing events.
