ECHO readers took to the catwalk yesterday to try to win a starring role at this year's Liverpool ECHO Fashion Show.

Around 100 would-be models were put through their paces at our Old Hall Street atrium by a team of judges including the ECHO's events programme developer, Katie Kendrick and Helen Whitehead, co-ordinator at model agency and show producers, Pulse.

Sixteen readers were chosen and will now undergo intense training ready to join the team of professional models at the event on October 10 and 11 at the Lifestyles Tennis Centre in Wavertree.

They will also receive hair and beauty make-overs courtesy of Barbara Daley Hair and Beauty in Lime Street and Christian Dior.

Events co-ordinator Jenny Snell said: "The standard was very high."

The oldest reader model chosen is 80, the youngest just 17.

The Liverpool ECHO Fashion Show, sponsored by Lewis's, is now in its 11th year and as well as a catwalk full of high street and designer wear will feature a health, beauty and lifestyle exhibition and demonstrations.

Every guest will also receive a goody bag and free drink.

Tickets priced at £6 for matinee performances, £12 for evenings are available from Ticketmaster on 0870 606 3536. Booking charges apply.

* Meet our winners in Look on Wednesday.
