MINISTRY of Magic watch wizards would have been welcome in New York this week as Harry Potter mania exploded onto the streets when the stars of the new movie, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban appeared at the world premiere.
The bemused teenage stars of the film looked stunned as they walked up the red carpet outside Radio City Music Hall accompanied by the screams of hundreds of fans who had turned out with the hopes of seeing their idols.
Star of the films, Daniel Radcliffe, 14 said: "It's astonishing - it's really, really, really scary but it's brilliant," he said.
He added: "We have worked on the film for 11 months and it's really gratifying that everyone came out to support it. It's amazing.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is the third film in the highly successful series and the darkest one to date. Harry and his pals must face an escaped murderer, werewolves, fierce magical creatures and the Dementors, the terrible guards of Azkaban Prison.
Other stars of the film who appeared at the premiere were Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley, Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger, Robbie Coltrane, Matthew Lewis who plays the bumbling Neville Longbottom, James and Oliver Phelps (Fred & George Weasley), and Alan Rickman, who plays the children's hated potions teacher, Professor Severus Snape.
