Originally supposed to be based monthly at Liverpool's Cream, after working on the idea since March 2002, the club's subsequent closure meant that Yousef had to take his 'circus' elsewhere. A new home was found that was perfect for a circus: The Masque, an old, disused Theatre in his hometown of Liverpool. Circus since its inception has grown from a 500 capacity to a 1200 capacity - within only 3 monthly parties. A purely house affair attracting the cream of the worlds finest DJs has achieved its simple aims: fun atmosphere with serious house music. So far, Sneak, Josh Wink, Derrick Carter, Darren Emerson, Lottie, Mutiny, Doc Martin, MYNC project, Gene Farris, Greg Vickers, Danny Rampling, Jon Carter, Danny Rampling, Tim Deluxe, Paul Woolford, Erick Morillo, Layo and Bushwacka!, Dave Beer, Phil Weeks and many more have all been 'Circus'ed' Many aspiring DJs have also been given the chance to play there, by holding, so far, two Circus DJ competitions where people from across the UK and Europe sent in their mix CDs' they then got to play in Circus' bar. On September 13 2003 Circus celebrated its first birthday with Yousef himself, Derrick Carter, Lottie, Jon Carter and a special Live Show from the Cuban Brothers - it was, in Yousef's own words: "The best party I have ever been to, let alone organized". As the show rolls into it's second year, expect more from Danny Howells, Justin Robertson, Steve Mac, Erick Morillo, Nic Fanciulli, DJ Heather - one of Chicago's finest house DJs, plus residents Lewis Boardman and Will Jazz and many more.
