LIVERPOOL'S most famous club and Birth place of the Beatles, The Cavern, is one of (if not the best place), to go and watch live bands in the city.
The Cavern has been a landmark in Liverpool for over 45 years, having staged The Beatles on nearly 300 occasions. However the venue was moved over the road in 1984 to enable the construction of an underground railway.
Nevertheless, The Cavern was re-created as near to its original as possible and the small venue with its low ceiling and exposed brickwork allows it to retain that distinctive underground feel making it an essential visit for music lovers of all ages, not just fans of the fab four.
With indie nights, student nights and live bands, the club is packed to the rafters nearly every night of the week and most of the time its absolutely free to get in. Definitely a bonus as drinks are at the higher end of the price scale, alike most places on Mathew Street.
The Cavern attracts a huge mix of people from locals and students to tourists from all over the world, all wanting to experience what has become known as "the best club in the world".
Well worth checking out to see all that's behind its reputation.
