Buzzcocks join Stranglers in cult bands spectacular

There will be two new outdoor stages in Liverpool and, for the first time, a stage in Birkenhead. The Capital of Culture team aims to develop the new-look Mathew Street format into an international showcase for 2008. More top bands are expected to be announced shortly. In addition to signed artists, new cover bands are also to be programmed next month, witha new bands stage, also at the Pier Head. Altogether, 150 bands from 20 countries are expected to take part. Apart from six outdoor stages, there will also be 40 inside venues. Story continues ADVERTISEMENT The crowd at the Pier Head alone is expected to be more than 20,000.
