Finally, does this big, bearded writer, who has been known to shout very loudly, reckon he might scare some people?
"I probably do. I am a bit odd, but I think I'm a lot less odd than I was. I suppose I can be a bit disturbing, if you get me on the wrong day.
"But I can be very friendly!" Cue laughter.
He may be lauded in literary circles, but Alexei Sayle hasn't lost his sense of humour.
