And now former Radio 1 DJ Andy Peebles has agreed to stage a question and answer event at this year's Beatle Week in which he will speak about the day he spent talking to John.
Andy has spoken of his shock of learning of John's death - just days after he had interviewed him.
As he returned to the UK after their chat, Andy was confronted by news reporters who asked him what he thought about John.
Bemused Andy said, 'He's in great form' only to be to told John had been shot dead.
