Roger hides his blushes

ROGER Kenyon came up with a novel way to conceal his blushes during a colourful penalty shoot-out at Prescot Cables FC last week - he donned a fake beard and hat!

Roger - no relation to PR guru Roger Kenyon - was a stalwart of more than 300 appearances for Everton between 1967 and 1978 yet never took a penalty kick during his time with the Toffees.

But recently he had to. Sticky problem - and something to chew over.

Roger was on the spot at Prescot in midweek - and saw his effort strike a post. So now we know why he had a penalty clause.

The shoot- out was filmed for use in the forthcoming Royal Court pantomime "Snow Blue and the 7 Blue Noses."

The Easter panto is a talking point in the city with Reds and Blues alike curious about this novel Derby match.

Rumours that Michael Owen is considering the fake beard penalty ploy before his next spot-kick have been dismissed.
