RITA TUSHINGHAM'S younger daughter Aisha Bicknell, 34, was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago, having the first of two operations last May. She finished her chemotherapy and then radiotherapy this January. "She just kept working. She has been so fantastic and positive," says Rita.
"I am so proud of her. She looks absolutely lovely. I am so proud of her courage. She told me, 'This is part of my life, it is not all my life'.
"You see her and you would never know. She is a great role model for young women.
"A lot of young women are diagnosed with breast cancer. If you look at Aisha, you would think that's terrific, she has gone on and fought it. Now she is just on medication.
"I wasn't going to tell you about it and then Aisha said that I should. People should be applauded when they are that brave. My friends have been fantastic. She has had so much support and love."
Aisha walks to her work in post-production film-making from Rita's house in London. "She has taught me so much," says Rita.. "Her dignity was quite remarkable. All our friends were there.
"My goodness me that taught me a lot about friendship and faith as well. That's very important."
