In the diary room he made it clear that he thought George Galloway should get back to work to represent the people who voted for him and said: "It's alright for me - I'm in a band and nothing really happens in January."
Speaking this week he says he was most surprised about how he changed his mind about former TV presenter Michael Barrymore .
Maggot says: "I think my allegiances were very obvious in the show. You could see I was a bit hesitant of Michael at the start but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and he came across as a very funny man."
Maggot says he was pleased and "a bit surprised to tell you the truth" to make the bronze position by coming third in the show.
"I was still on the winners' podium," he says, "and I had a great reaction when I walked out; there was a great amount of goodwill out there.
"When I was in the house and it was down to six of us I was asked who I thought would win and I said Michael or Chantelle so I wasn't surprised about that."
While coming out was fine, going in was a different story as one of Newport's finest exports admits he had sweaty palms under his cool tracksuit.
He says: "It was quite nerve racking going in there - it's tough. At first you're really conscious of the cameras but that goes."
The main source of gossip from the house was the will-they-won't-they chemistry between Chantelle and Ordinary Boys' singer Preston.
Maggot says: "I don't think it was a romance. I think a lot of people are making something out of nothing. They had a strong bond and formed a good friendship but that's it really."
