Blood Brothers has brought other acting jobs including roles in Doctors, In Deep and regular appearances in Emmerdale as Freda Danby.
And now the singing career is taking a new turn.
"I have just recorded my first album in 30 years," she says. "I don't know why there has been such a break between albums but it just didn't happen. Now that it has I am making the most of it."
The album titled Late Night contains mostly standards. "It's easy listening, one very much for the ladies to settle down with a bottle of wine at the end of an evening. It's a slit-your-wrists type of album."
Rod Edwards, musical supervisor on Blood Brothers, has produced it and it should be available some time in the next few months.
She hopes there will be some live performances, too. "I have not done concerts for 12 years because I have been doing Blood Brothers," she says. "But I hope I can take this on the road and do some nice concerts."
Meanwhile she is enjoying being in Liverpool - "it's lovely shopping here and I hope to be spending more time in Liverpool" - and then there is the fun of returning to the new home she has hardly seen. "I want to go home and settle," she declares.
