TO say that it's not been a bad year for Australian comedian Adam Hills is a bit of an understatement.
The Triple Perrier Award nominee has just returned from a hugely successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe. Selling over 20,000 tickets in the past two years of the festival, Hills has confirmed his status as one of the hottest acts on the circuit.
He's also performed at the Montreal Comedy Festival, made an appearance on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, hosted Four at the Store for BBC Radio 4, and played a two-week solo season in London's West End.
Now he's coming to Liverpool with his highly anticipated second UK tour, "Go You Big Red Fire Engine 2: Judgement Day".
A sequel to his hit 2002 show, "Go You Big Red Fire Engine", Adam promises to try and dish up the perfect sequel: less plot, more special effects, and a needless cameo appearance.
Not that he should have to worry on that score. With celebrity admirers such as Boy George, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Billy Connolly and a string of awards including the Nokia Orange Best of the Fest Award 2002 and Chortle Best Compere 2004.
Since the 2002 international festival tour of "Go You Big Red Fire Engine", the phrase has taken on a life of its own and has spontaneously appeared in unexpected places around the world, most famously perhaps when it was yelled out in Australian Parliament by the leader of the Democrat Party.
The new show will provide a flashback of how it all started, an update of where the phrase has travelled to and more of Adam's trademark spontaneous and uplifting stand-up comedy.
More seriously, Hills has been raising money for the Siem Reap orphanage in Cambodia through the sales of "Go You Big Red Fire Engine" T-shirts and so far has raised an impressive £10,000 .00 for the charity.
