Former Atomic Kitten member Natasha Hamilton

FORMER Atomic Kitten Natasha Hamilton will perform solo tonight in her home city for the first time.

After playing some of the country's biggest stadiums, the singer who made her name with the Liverpool girl band will be starting again at the city's Zanzibar venue.

Last night the mother-of-two told the Daily Post how she managed to launch her solo career as well as bringing up her two sons with her partner, dancer Gavin Hatcher.

The family live in London but the singer said Liverpool is still where her heart is.

Ms Hamilton said: "The solo project is going really well at the moment. I'm a bit nervous about the show but I've got a lot of support from my family and friends."

Her second son Harry was born in January. Natasha admitted suffering post natal depression following the birth of her first son Josh to former fiance Fran Cosgrove.

The singer said: "With the second baby it was easier. I took time to chill out a bit and had a year off before taking too much on again.

"Having the two babies and starting my own solo career has been hard but Gavin has been a huge help."

After the collapse of the girl band, Ms Hamilton has decided to release her own album.

The pop star denied rumours reported in the press that the couple were engaged.

She said: "I'm taking one thing at a time. With the children and launching my solo career it would drive me to a nervous breakdown if I tried to organise a wedding on top of that."

Atomic Kitten formed in 1999 with Natasha Hamilton from Kensington, Liz McClarnon from Aigburth and Kerry Katona from Warrington. Jenny Frost from Wallasey replaced Kerry when she left the band.

Ms Hamilton said: "I still keep in contact with the girls. I met up with Kerry the other day."
