LIVERPOOL'S Robert Robinson is returning as host of the BBC Radio 4 quiz Brain of Britain. So all is right with the world.
Robinson, 78, has been chairman of the madly difficult quiz show since 1967 where it evolved from What Do You Know, hosted by the equally urbane Franklin Engelmann.
Regular listeners were horrified during the last series when Robinson had to drop out due to illness.
But the BBC has assured fans that Robinson will be back with the new series next Monday.
"We are delighted to welcome the return of Robert, who had to temporarily retire from the show mid-way through last year while convalescing," explained a spokesman.
"Now happily recovered, his elegant wit and gentle encouragement always ensure an entertaining contest."
Viewers thought it a shame that Robinson did not host the new TV series of his old show Ask the Family. Instead, they brought in two comic nincompoops who asked questions about pop songs and regularly insulted contestants.
Robert was one of eight children who lived in Maria Road, Liverpool, before moving to Breeze Hill.
The family later moved to London but Robinson returned to the city to live with relatives during World War II.
He entered journalism - Sunday Times, Sunday Telegraph, etc - before finding a niche in TV quiz shows like Call My Bluff and Ask the Family.
