CELEBRITY is something Sharleen Spiteri has had to learn to live with, especially as she still insists on doing all her own Sainsbury's shopping, but she is not complaining.
"It came very late to us, the celebrity thing," explains the lead singer of Scottish superband Texas.
"It makes me happy when people come up and say 'Love your music, love what you do'. You know, you jump in a cab and he'll go, 'Come on! When are we getting another record?' It makes me proud that they know what I do. The fact that they still want my music makes me really happy."
It's been a bit of a funny journey for Texas since former hairdresser Sharleen formed the rock/pop band with pal Johnny McElhone back in the '80s.
Although the group bagged their first hit with "I Don't Want A Lover" back in 1989 and went on to huge things in Europe, in the UK their success was more modest.
Then along came "Say What You Want" in 1997 and the stunning "White On Blonde" album.. It hit the top of the charts and spawned several smash-hit singles. Suddenly Texas was the biggest thing to come out of Scotland since Irn Bru.
But 37-year-old Sharleen has certainly not let any of it go to her head, especially now she has Misty Kyd in tow, her three-year-old daughter by ex-boyfriend journalist Ashley Heath (the couple were together for 10 years but admitted last month they had been living apart since last year).
"I've become an earth mother," Sharleen laughs.
"Don't get me wrong," Sharleen interrupts herself, halfway through explaining what it's like to no longer the number one person in your own life.
"When you've got a kid, any woman will probably tell you, you want to sometimes look glam because you've been pregnant.
