A HOLLYWOOD movie will focus on the hours leading up to John Lennon's murder, it was revealed today.
Industry magazine Variety has reported that stars Jared Leto and Lindsay Lohan are to appear in a new film called Chapter 27.
It is thought the title could refer to JD Salinger's novel Catcher in the Rye, which killer Mark Chapman had in his pocket when he gunned down the former Beatle.
The film is being financed by a company called Peace Arch and is penned by Jarrett Schaeffer, who will also make his directorial debut.
Leto, who has previously starred in films including Alexander, Lord of War, Panic Room and American Psycho, is tipped to play Mark Chapman himself.
According to Variety, teen queen Lohan will star as "a devoted Lennon fan who befriends Chapman on the weekend in 1980 when he kills John Lennon".
The 19-year-old found fame in the film Mean Girls and most recently appeared in the summer children's movie Herbie: Fully Loaded.
Next month will mark the 25th anniversary of Lennon's killing.
He was shot by Chapman as he returned with Yoko Ono to their apartment in the Dakota Building, overlooking New York's Central Park, on the evening of December 8.
