While it is a small role, it is an important one, says Ridland. He also admits it will be unpaid.
Ridland, who went to primary school with Liverpool producer Bill Kenwright, never followed his school mate into the profession. Instead he became a driving instructor.
But he recently created The Quarry Bank Company to stage plays and make movies. Like Lennon, he did attend Quarry Bank School.
He has been trying to get Dead Beat in Dakota staged in New York.
"Unfortunately, the legal problems dealing with music rights and such things have been very difficult so we have abandoned that idea for a while."
But the play will go on at the Unity for three nights between May 12-14.
