Made from 100% recycled material and featuring a funky apple-shaped logo, it's set to become the fashion statement du jour.
And all you have to do to get your mitts on one is spend £3 on healthy ingredients at any fruit & veg stall that features a Taste For Health poster in Liverpool.
According to research, the average person eats less than three portions of fruit and vegetables a day, instead of the recommended five. This is even lower amongst young people.
"The idea behind the bags is to encourage people to eat more fruit and vegetables," says Julie Curren, Food and Health Co-ordinator for Liverpool Primary Care Trust, "They're a rich source of health-protecting vitamins and minerals, yet most of us don't eat enough of them. So, with eco-friendly fashions being all the rage, we're hoping that this latest initiative will help the people of Liverpool convert to a trendy and more responsible way of living as well as supporting fruit and vegetable suppliers in the area.”
The bags, which will be distributed in selected stalls throughout the city on Saturday, have already earned the seal of approval of both stall holders as well as one of the city's top fashion gurus - Lorraine McCulloch.
The celebrity stylist said: "With the launch of Bono's Red card and an increased awareness about climate change, eco-friendly fashion is becoming all the rage, especially when it helps people change the way that they eat."
