MERSEYSIDE'S population may be an ageing one, but members of today's older generations see no reason to slow down just because they're going grey.
And it's just as well because after the age of 50, people lose up to a pound of muscle mass every year, resulting in decreased strength, co-ordination, balance and flexibility.
Fortunately, scientists claim that this physical decline can be counteracted through activity.
There are heaps of fitness classes and sports initiatives out there that are specially designed for the matured body.
