PARIS in summer. What's not to love? The sparkling tower, the romantic walks along the Seine and, of course, the Tour De France - the most prestigious road cycling race in the world and an inspiration to those who want to pedal their way to fitness.
If you don't like exercising indoors, there's no doubt about it, cycling is a great way to workout. It's not only fun but it's also one of the best family activities around.
And this season sees the continuation of the Walton Hall Park cycling sessions, where bicycles, helmets and instructors are provided free of charge.
Each class takes between one and two hours with a familiarisation session for those whose cycling skills are a bit rusty.
"Cycling is an excellent way of reducing everything from stress to the risk of heart disease as well as improving general fitness, muscle strength, mobility and coordination," explains Gavin McLaughlin from the North Liverpool Primary Care Trust, who is behind the scheme.
"North Liverpool offers some great green spaces and the old railway track, known as the loop line, is an ideal cycleway."
If you're interested in participating in this leisurely off-road cycle ride, led by qualified cycling instructors, contact Gavin on 0151 234 5074.
