I played on the same gig as the Beatles at the Aintree Institute in Liverpool in 1961..Stu Sutcliffe and Pete Best were with them then. Lennon didn't deserve to be slaughtered by the nutter in N York but without Mcartney there would have been no Beatles..believe me!He was absolutely magnetic. Lennon had a Gibson amp and a rickenbacker guitar with a short guage arm.Stu Sutcliffe had a slight turn in his eye and used to wear dark glasses on stage he also wore a gaberdine 'Mac' like a cloak with one button fastened around his neck. The amazing thing was that all the girls were mostly ignoring the front line and screaming for Pete at the back who'd be smoking a ciggy while playing the drums.Later on girls would kiss his front door and sleep in his garden....He had to go....didn't he!

I was pulling into a petrol station in Netherton in liverpool and the girl came out and shouted 'John Lennon's been shot dead and I liked him' I remember thinking that it was always on the cards that something like that might happen. He could be right in your face and people could back down he was very convincing. Years later he said that he wasn't tough but he was a good bluffer.D'you want the truth here or do you want the crap!He used to do a funny walk imitating ******* children and in the Beatles anthology he admitted screaming with laughter seeing the crippled newspaper sellers from the bus on the way home.he had a 'thing 'about deformed people. He had an amazing black humour that you would laugh at and feel guilty about later. He wrote and co wrote some fabulous music later but I had to laugh when I heard him singing 'All you need is love'he had a tremendous confidence that was overpowering and the Beatles were his little gang and he had to be boss..I always felt he was unbalanced.
Hello, I have a piano John used to write numerous songs on. It was purchased from Sotheby's in England about ten years ago. I am wondering if any one is interested in owning this beautiful piece of history? Thanks, Michael

What can anyone say...I still remember exactly where I was when I heard the news. Imagine what would be if Mark David Chapman had succeeded in taking his own life, John would still be with us. I still cry when I hear his song Imagine. I read Cynthia's book and cried what a wonderful story about a wonderful man. Goodbye John, always on my mind.
Still sadly missed, will allways be remembered, your not really dead John, just Imagine what could have been-----------

How much I love Mr. Lennon is nearly impossible to say. First my parents were fans. I became a fan while I was still in diapers. Now my own children are fans. My oldest Daughter likes to sing Beatles songs with me. How much happiness Mr. Lennon has given us is nearly impossible to describe. He was a genius. He was a person with heart. I think of him every single day. I send my love out to the Lennon family members and to all the fans worldwide. Without Mr. Lennon this world would be a very different place. He made this world so much better with his songs.
Peace To All
John Lives On!! Argentina Loves John, The World Loves You And You Live Forever In My Heart!!! I Love You John !!!

John, you were a great song writer. One of the best ever. You also came up with some great catchphrases which have inspired people to live how you didn't. That's quite an achievement. By all accounts you weren't the nicest person ever, but you created a fascia for yourself which will last for decades. I will remember you for being in the Beatles, the mmost successful band ever. As for being Liverpool's son...it didn't go much further than your birth certificate really did it? You didn't come back here once you'd made your money, so I don't think scousers have any more right to be proud of you than anyone else.
The night he was killed I was in bed listening to the radio before school, Vienna by ultravox was playing and I felt a sort of finality about something, reallt sad. I was walking over hunts cross bridge the bus stop and my uncle approached and told me the news. I can remember everything that happened all day and night, but no other school day in as much constant detail. I was 13 but this shows what a true icon the man was, I still find it an unbelievable act and what a desperately horrible and pointless one, we have missed out on Johns's return to Liverpool I would sorely would have wanted to see that, he was homesick towards the end

I was lucky to be a teenager on Merseyside when the Beatles were just starting off. They played twice at my church youth club and I saw them at many other places, New Brighton Tower, Hulme Hall and of course the Cavern. I was at a dance at the Majestic in Birkenhead and went up to the Beatles dressing room to get their autographs, mine are on my 1961 Cavern membership card. I spoke to John in particular, he asked my name and when I said
The news that John Lennon was dead came as an immense shock, infinitely sad, because one was grieving not only for his death but for the death of an era, and for the Beatles songs that played all through that time, over and over, giving it texture and a bittersweet flavor. The silly, innocent songs, like

Being only 17, I never got to live during Beatlemania, and I never lived while John was alive, but I have been most influenced by this amazing man and his music. He has inspired me to urge other young people to give peace a chance. Thank you, John; I owe you so much.
