FEAST your eyes on the car charged with spearheading Jaguar's revival hopes.
It has the sleek, muscular lines of an Aston Martin, but will cost a fraction of the price.
If the vibes are right it could be in production early next year with a price tag of about £70,000. At present this sensationallooking big cat is being called the Advanced Lightweight Coupe - hardly a title to match its presence - and is star of the Detroit motor show.
It is a high performance 2+2 sports car concept, capable of blasting from 0-60mph in less than five seconds and on to a top speed of 180mph.
The styling harks back to the designs of the XK120 and E-type models of decades ago, and is said by Jaguar to herald a new generation of sports cars and sports sedans. It will be a direct replacement for the ageing XK coupe and convertible models.
Jaguar boss Joe Greenwell said: "The XK120 was a ground-breaker, and the E-type and XJ6 saloon in the 1960s helped to change the face of motoring.
"I would like to think that we will look back on the Advanced Lightweight Coupe as another of those moments in Jaguar's lineage.
"It represents the very essence of Jaguar, its heart and soul. If you want to know what lies ahead for us, what direction we will take - this is Jaguar's answer."
Design director Ian Callum sayid: "Look back at the great cars from our past and you will see that they were as muscular and taut as they were subtle and curvaceous."
