ST GEORGE'S Hall is recognised as not just one of the finest buildings in Liverpool but also in the UK and is afitting location for the Daily Post Regional Business Awards.
The RBA is one of the most prestigious events in the Merseyside business calendar and St George's Hall could not be amore appropriate place to hold it.
Countless first-time visitors to Liverpool have stepped out of Lime Street Station over the years to be met with the sight of this magnificent building, that was built more than 150 years ago.
It is an imposing structure guarded by pillars on top of an elegant plateau. The hall itself is 169 feet long and 74 feet wide. 84 feet above the famous Minton tiled floor is the vaulted ceiling of this breathtaking Victorian building, and huge bronze doors guard it's interior.
It is a must see for all visitors to the city as its statues, chandeliers and inscriptions hark back to the height of Liverpool's Victorian heritage.
Thousands of people from murderers to royalty, have passed through its grand doors. Even Charles Dickens was inspired by the neo-classical building, conducting many readings there during the 1860s.
Prince Charles once described St George's Hall as one of the finest buildings in Britain in the last 200 years. In recent years it has undergone a £15m facelift that has been completed well in time for Liverpool's Capital of Culture celebrations in 2008.
The ambitious joint project between Liverpool City Council and the St George's Hall Charitable Trust involves making the building weatherproof, creating avisitors and education centre and reopening the Small Concert Room.
