Martina Navratilova and Ivan Ljubicic with the European Cup

TENNIS legend Martina Navratilova got her hands on some new silverware last night - the Champions League trophy at Anfield.

The nine-time Wimbledon singles champion visited the Reds Museum ahead of her appearance at this week's Liverpool International in Calderstones Park.

Navratilova was teaming up with Jan-Michael Gambill in a mixed doubles exhibition match against Sam Smith and Ivan Ljubicic today as part of her preparations for yet more appearances at Wimbledon. She's also due to play again tomorrow.

Last week she reached her 59th Grand Slam final, the mixed doubles in Paris, at the age of 48.

But she insists she is heading to London just to enjoy herself.

" I ' m not going for any records," she explained. "I just want to do well at Wimbledon, hopefully have a terrific time, play some good tennis and see what happens."

The winner of the French Open, Justine Henin-Hardenne, is her tip for the SW19 title.

"I think Justine Henin is the best athlete out there right now. She will be full of confidence after her victory on clay and she is even better suited to grass.

"If I had to put my money on anyone right now I'd put my money on her.

"Would I put my money on Tim Henman? No. The reason is he is playing at the same time as Roger Federer. Roger can dominate as much as Pete Sampras did at Wimbledon.

"I think if I was a betting woman, which I'm not, I would put money on Roger Federer winning for sure."

Navratilova aims to combine tennis with some sightseeing over the next 48 hours.

"I only flew in last night. I haven't seen anything of the city but I hope to," she said.

"I would like to see the Beatles Museum. I'm told you have to see that when you come to Liverpool, but we'll see what time allows."
