Landmarks

FROM the Liver Building to St John's Beacon, Liverpool's landmarks add drama and distinction to the city. Here we mention just a small part of the city's treasure trove.

Two great cathedrals dominate our skyline, representing the Anglican and Roman Catholic faiths in the city. Each are prime examples of architectural excellence; imposing, atmospheric and thought provoking.

The "Three Graces" - the Liver Building, Cunard Building and Port of Liverpool Building form one of the most instantly recognisable and breathtaking examples of waterfront architecture in the world.

The beautiful Victorian Palm House in Sefton Park and Tudor Speke Hall are a tranquil oasis of gardens and woodland within the city, while the awe-inspiring St George's Hall is guarded by a pride of stone lions and a forest of pillars on top of an elegant plateau.

Liverpool is also proud of it's cultural diversity and modern sights. A soon to be fourth Grace will join striking modern landmarks such as the SuperLambBanana - the creation of Japanese artist Taro Chiezo, designed to represent the city's humour and serious contemporary issues.
