THE terrace house in Allerton where dad Jim brought up Paul McCartney and brother Mike.
It has been acquired by the National Trust and is now wonderfully maintained reflecting the 50s and early 60s period.
Working from photographs taken by Paul's brother Mike, the original wallpaper and linoleum have been relaid, period furniture traced and lights and switches replaced with those made in a 1950s style.
Even the original doors have been reinstalled, bought from an antiques dealer who specialised in the 1950s and Beatle memorabilia.
The only one missing is the door to Paul's own bedroom, which now hangs in the Hard Rock Cafe in London.
From this ordinary council house emerged a sound that touched the lives of millions.
Photographs taken by Mike McCartney now adorn the walls: "I'm lending the National Trust my personal, private photographs of Forthlin Rd for one reason. So that you can see the way it REALLY was," he said.
John and Paul wrote some of their early songs in the house including I Saw Her Standing There.
Mike McCartney also formed The Scaffold group here.
Visitors can enjoy a joint tour of to 20 Forthlin Road and Mendips, the childhood home of John Lennon.
