EVER wondered what it's like to be lost in the jungle, towered over by menacing vegetation and stung to billy-o by the plant life? Visit the Maize Maze and you will!
Stirred by the urge for excitement and the quest for adventure - and the need for yet another idea to entertain the kids on another summer holiday afternoon - Colleague Sue Lee and I decided it would be a great place to take our kids.
That's Sue's two, Jake, five, and Gina, three; and my two, Callum, six, and, Lois, four.
And, in spite of the throbbing red rashes which had us all scratching and screaming for England by the end of it, thanks to an abundance of nettles, we had a great time!
The maze has, as is fairly obvious, been made from maize and is grown at the side of the huge Speke Hall complex.
Previous mazes have included a butterfly. This year's is in the shape of a submarine - although you won't have an inkling of that when you are trying to negotiate your way around - it is the most complex ever grown by the hall.
