THE first time we set out to this cream cracker, we were destined for disappointment.
It was around the time of the foot and mouth crisis and, though unaffected, the centre was forced to close.
No such sorrow since though -subsequent visits have led to lip-smacking super trips with more than just the ice cream story to stir up the children's excitement.
There's a tea room and gift shop, under-six play barn, animal corner and the chance to see birds of prey.
In fact, there's everything you need to keep the children -and you - happy for a fair few hours.
But back to the ice cream farm.
It was in 1986 that Tom and Margaret Fell decided to add value to the milk produced by their 300 cows and so, as lovers of ice cream - and because of the limited supply of luxury ice creamavailable then - they decided to produce it them-selves, made with whole milk and 48% double cream.
In July that year the ice creamparlour opened to the public and was an instant success with visitor numbers now exceeding a quarter of a million every year.
You can watch the cows being milked at 3.30pm daily, and learn how the ice creamis made, actually watching the production process through a live link up during the week.
