DEEP under Liverpool streets lies an intricate network of tunnels constructed by eccentric Liverpool character Joseph Williamson.
For years the tunnels were closed off to the public, but with the help of the Joseph Williamson society the tunnels are now open to the public.
Experienced guides and historians now run guided tours through the tunnels daily. Historical artefacts found in the tunnels are on display for the public with information about tunnels that are still closed.
The tours run daily throughout summer and from Tuesday to Sunday throughout winter. Admission to the tunnels is around £3.50 for adults and £2.00 for children, with special rates for group bookings and concessions.
The tunnels entrance is located The Old Stableyard, Smithdown Lane, Liverpool. For further details please contact 0151 709 6868 or visit www.williamsonstunnels.co.uk.
